Manchester United - End Of Season Review 2007/2008
Having watched the full DVD i can say that it is without doubt a great addition to any collection, with all the matches covered in what was a truly amazing roller coaster ride of a season. When watching J.Terry take his penalty i am still on tender hooks in case this time he scores ! ( and i was lucky to be in Moscow). The DVD quality is excellent on my copy so the reviewer who had a grainy copy must have been unlucky. If you are a united fan you will enjoy this over and over again, SAF once again confining his critics to the also ran section of media life.

Good Game

I am pleased to say that we played this interactive DVD on Christmas Day and it kept everyone quiet and happy for ages. It was brilliant for all of the family as well as the die-hard Top Gear fans.

At last - a sporting DVD that's worth watching.

Let's face it, most sporting DVDs are just bloody awful - some stock footage cobbled together with a couple of interviews bought off ITV.

That's not the case with Joe Calzaghe - My Life Story. Co-produced by Calzaghe himself, this is an intimate portrait of the man himself, with never-seen-before footage of Joe and his family. If you really want to get to know what Calzaghe is like, there is no better place to start - from Newbridge Gym in Abercarn to the family home in Sardinia via the bright lights of Las Vegas. With interviews from living legends such as Sugar Ray Leonard and Jake La Motta, this is a boxerphile's wet dream.

Although what really sets this DVD apart is the inimitable Enzo Calzaghe - Joe's father/trainer, he's as mad as a box of frogs and twice as funny. Get a couple of mates round, crack open a couple of beers and throw this on your DVD player - trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Some of the best bits but very bitty

I received this DVD as a free gift with a Top Gear magazine subscription. I wasn't really expecting it so it was a nice surprise, and these are the bits of Top Gear I like the most.

"Hurrah", I thought,"surely they will have put the challenges back together so I can watch them straight through" (normally these challenges are shown in two parts in the episodes). Wrong! As everyone else has said they are split up. However, the solution is simple, grab some willing friends or family members, set aside 3 hours, pile up some drinks and nibbles, and do the DVD the justice of watching it right through.

I should clarify that the editing and cinematography of the films themselves is first-rate, there are few TV programmes this well put together, and this is a real showcase of the TG team's efforts (and there is plenty more in the TG archives). But the main point of breaking the films up on the TV is to keep the viewer watching through the bits in the middle - this is hardly necessary when I own the DVD!

One thing to note on the content - the limo challenge doesn't include the first half where they build them (including Clarkson driving half a Panda), but there is an eighth challenge in the shape of Hammond driving a Porsche Cayenne against a Red Devil parachutist.

DO NOT BUY THIS DVD

The content of this dvd is absolutely fine. The problem is that the second disc, the one where we actually won the slam, can't get past the menu. And that's on three separate dvd players. And after ordering a replacement disc from Amazon. Hopeless. I'm off to get a refund. Avoid!

Worth renting, not worth buying

What can I say - its gritty, production values arent as strong as Long Way Round or Long Way Down. They are all clearly nuts in a good way.

Not much else to say - worth renting for a winter night by the fire but wouldn't buy it (though Long Way Round and Long Way Down are worth owning!)

Worthy recap on fine F1 season

2007 was one of the best Formula One seasons for years. There was drama, controversy, fantastic races, suprise faces, and more. This season review does it's best to compress the excitement into one watch.

So what does it do well? Firstly, it includes alot of action from each race, and despite the lack of replays, it does do enough to provide the best action from either end of the grid. Pretty much everything notable is included. Secondly, the special features. such as the ones on Super Aguri and Williams, make a very interesting break from the action.

The DVD does lack a little in interviews, and doesn't really consider the off-track events as much as they actually affected the season.

However, naturally, this is a great watch. I say naturally. Well, they didn't really need to try hard - it was a fantastic year. So it's certainly worth purchasing, whether it be the first F1 season you've taken note of, or one of many you've seen.

An amazing talent, great story!

A wonderful insight into the life of one of Manchester United's greatest ever players. Well produced and it's only when you look at this DVD you truly appreciate what a great, down to earth talent this guy is. Thanks Ryan.

Clarkson at his best

I actually bought this as an Easter prezzy for my 5yo son (he doesn't like choccy!)

He's autistic & fanatical about cars, bikes, Top Gear & Jeremy Clarkson!

My son has watched this DVD at least 10 times already & still bounces off the walls every time!

Whilst i fail to see the avid interest in everything he does (he watches the Audi Channel for petes sake!!!), i can wholeheartedly say that this DVD deserves every bit of his approval.

Clarkson is at his dry, witty best. His presenting is excellent all the way through - & even if you're not a fan i dare you not to find some of Clarksons commentary laugh out loud funny.

With 'Supercar' in the title the cars are, of course, fabulous. The Bugatti Veyron, Lambo Gallardo, Ferrari 430 & the Audi R8 to name a few. The showdowns are exciting, fast & a couple are even messy - but never dull.

And if you've ever asked yourself what is quicker - an eco-friendly car or a table? You'll even get that answered in this DVD!

Top this off with guests The Stig & Sabine Schmitz (of Nurburgring notoriety) & you've got yourself a great 76 mins of entertainment.

Cracking Calzaghe DVD

Being a huge fan of 'Super Joe' and having watch all the other DVDs with him i had to get this one and , like all the others this was fantastic, packed full of fights and action it really gave the best possible story of where Joe came from and how far he has come. With so many fights and at over 3 hours long this is the most comprehensive story of Joe, would recommend to any Joe or boxing fan, well worth the watch go buy it!

Red blooded sports film

This film tells the story of a mixed race American football team from a recently racially desegregated Southern US high school.

The film show cases the awkwardness of the coaching staff, with the successful white coach now finding himself the junior coach to a black team coach with his own conflicting ideas of what makes a team successful. As well as the coaches' friction, there is friction between the team members, who initially polarise on racial lines, and the teams performance duly collapses. However, following a soulful training retreat, the team members begin to befriend each other, the coaches work more closely and the team performance rockets.

The film has some very strong points. The characters all develop at a nice pace, with some genuinely strong performances from the young team members. There is a particularly touching scene where one of the players is paralysed in hospital. The actual sport side is relatively light, and for the British viewer, mercifully few technical American football remarks. The film does have one or two weaknesses, biggest being the at times rather melodramatic stand offs between the coaching staff, as well as the rather crude racist remarks and gestures, some of which even by the standards of the day seem over the top.

All in all the film is very uplifting, and a red blooded sports fan will find it especially enjoyable. Watch out for a young Hayden Panetierre, who was very young when this film was made and who stars as one coaches' daughter. Needless to say she has changed quite a bit since!

Indispensable souvenir of a classic match.

Probably the greatest Wimbledon Final ever, maybe the greatest match ever. Relive this titanic contest in which Rafa, soon after winning the French and at the peak of his form, eventually prevailed after 5 dramatic and gruellingly long sets to win his first Wimbledon Men's title and virtually ensure that he would soon overtake Rog to become the World's number one ranked player.
