Review for Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars:
So much work through 4 seasons on building terrific, deep and brilliantly acted characters... The Peacekeeper Wars, although providing an ending to the show, is nothing more than a hurried, disrespectful, monosyllabic answer to a long burning question.

Review for Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars:
Disappointing ending to a great show
If you love Farscape and have all the 4 seasons of DVDs like I do, then you come to unfortunate decision of having to buy this mini series to wrap the program up. Although watching The Peacekeeper Wars is necessary because of the silly cliff hanger at the end of season 4, it has a bittersweet taste. Read the other more honest reviews here and you'll see why. There isn't any point in me going over what they've already said. My own personal opinion is that they should have wrapped the show up during season 4 if they were going to cancel. The plot during season 4 was going pretty well and with a little more work, they could have ended the show at the end of the season without needing The Peacekeeper Wars.So much work through 4 seasons on building terrific, deep and brilliantly acted characters... The Peacekeeper Wars, although providing an ending to the show, is nothing more than a hurried, disrespectful, monosyllabic answer to a long burning question.

Review for Farscape: Complete Season 4 (Box Set):
During this series we see John Crichton carry on searching for a way home, with the wormhole knowledge having now being released at the end of season 3, helping him greatly to achieve this. The speed picks up as not only peacekeepers are after Crition but also Scareans and the crew are forced to go into a deeper, darker part of the galaxy.
This is another great series and very enjoyable, with a jaw dropping finish at the end. Which rightly so caused fans to get their act together enabling the Peacekeeper Wars to be made.

Review for Farscape - The Complete Season 3 [1999]:
After the experimental tone of season two the writers had really learned what did and didn't work in Farscape and the thrid season really plays to it's strengths, the bizzarre is commonplace here (one episode takes place almost entirely in a looney toones cartoon world) and so is the fantastical but Farscape remains deeply involving to the last and never shies away from an opportunity to tug on it's audience's heart-strings by taking the characters to very dark and tragic places. Crichton becomes increasingly unstable, Aeryn (via a plot move I won't spoil) is forced yet again to face her betrayal of the PeaceKeepers, D'argo has to watch his dreams tear apart in front of him, and so on.
There is just something so rewarding in this series for people who've stuck with it from the beginning, all of this season is based on events of the previous two and the characters have all evolved so far that there's a very definite emotional connection to the show now which makes the sheer towering quality of the material even better.
The season also ups the anti on the action front, with the shoot-outs far more elaborate, there's much more space-set scenes many of which are facilitated by the now almost fully-grown Talyn , and with what appears to be a budget hike giving all the effects an even more intricate look than they had previously. Now, there are still a few bits of effects that have not aged all that well, but these are never present for more than an episode and so don't really detract since this whole thing is just so good anyway.
In conclusion, Farscape's third season easily cements it's place as the single greatest sci-fi show of all time. Effects are brilliant, the characters are fantastically well-drawn and three-dimensional, the plot is dark and visceral, with levels of involvement which are rarely seen in television (though not unique, series this involving are few and very far between). Frankly, five stars just doesn't do it justice.

Review for Farscape - The Complete Season 3 [1999]:
Easily The Best
Farscape's third season is some of the most fantastic science fiction you'll ever see. The first season was great but had very little plot arc carried over the season, the second got darker and smarter with more overall story but occasionally just died; for this third season almost every episode fits into a huge overal plot, the writing is smarter, darker and more adult than before and if you enjoyed the first two seasons you're really in for a treat with this. Review for Farscape: Complete Season 1 (Box Set) [1999]:
What I love about the show, is character chemistry. There are a lot good sci-fi shows, but in my opinion none have characters, you can relate to more. The chemistry between actors is really phenomenal. Especially in the later seasons when the continuity of the show starts to pick up more, you really start to care about what happens to each character.
This release though was a bit disappointing to me. Not because the quality is low, no sirree. Both picture and sound are spectacular. What was disappointing to me, was the lack of subtitles and that episodes 2-7 were in different order than originally aired on tv. That bothers the continuity of the show, especially important when building character relationships. Since I don't want to watch the episodes in the wrong order, I have the switch discs in my dvd player after pretty much every episode in the beginning. That lowers the rating to 4 stars in my opinion.
Besides that, I can't find anything wrong with this boxset. I only have the first season as of yet, hoping that at least the episodes are in the right order in the other releases.

A great show, a little above average release
First of all, I love the show. When it originally was shown on Finnish tv, my friend used to come by my apartment every week to watch it since he didn't get the channel that showed it. At that time I didn't care for the show until something like the late second season. What I love about the show, is character chemistry. There are a lot good sci-fi shows, but in my opinion none have characters, you can relate to more. The chemistry between actors is really phenomenal. Review for Farscape: Complete Season 2 (Box Set) [1999]:
The second half of this season is amazing, containing some of the best episodes Farscape ever made (including the incredible 'Won't Get Fooled Again') that really start to use what the show's makers had learned about it's strengths and weaknesses from the experimental beginnings of the season. It's a bizarre, insane world and it knows it. Every episode carries over into the next forming a larger tapestry of plot-lines and character arcs all building towards stunning climactic episode. This season principally follows Crichton's slow-but-steady mental breakdown after the traumatizing events that ended season one, this isn't thrown in your face but rather slowly built up through the season as his behavior becomes more and more reckless and suicidal, this method works especially well on DVD since it's much easier to pick up on early than it was when it first appeared on TV. It also contains a few hints at the larger political state around the events of the series but this only really comes into play in one three-part story near the middle of the season, mainly this is still about the same small group of fugitives just trying to find their way home.
Effects wise the season's pretty much the same as the first. All the costumes/body-paints/puppets for the main characters all look incredible even now several years later, though a few bits of the CG or guest-creatures are looking a little dated these days. What few pieces of effects do look dated don't detract from the quality of what you're watching here though as they're never there more than an episode.
Is season two better than season one? Yes, it probably is. Sure it's not as consistent and it's got more than the average number of bad episodes near the beginning, but when it's good it blows the first season away with ease, this is where Farcape started what would be cemented in season three - a transformation from an excellent sci-fi show into the best sci-fi show ever made.

Patchy at times but still a great show
Farscape's second season is a bit of an oddity. The first chunk of the season isn't all that dissimilar to the first season, Moya and her crew having separate adventures on each world they visit each episode. This first chunk contains some really great episodes but also some of the worst sci-fi ever made for television. As a huge fan of Farscape it's hard to admit it but some of these early-season-two-eps are just awful. Luckily the good material is good enough to keep you going though and when you hit the mid-point of the series everything changes. The second half of this season is amazing, containing some of the best episodes Farscape ever made (including the incredible 'Won't Get Fooled Again') that really start to use what the show's makers had learned about it's strengths and weaknesses from the experimental beginnings of the season. It's a good show and it looks great on DVD. If you liked watching it on TV, you will not be disappointed. However many reviews try to draw some comparison to Babylon 5. Even on the cover of volume 1.6 there is a quote from Total DVD,"Hottest sci-fi series to hit TV since Babylon 5".I'm sorry, I love the show, but it's no Babylon5!

Review for Farscape 2.1 [1999]:
Why? Two of the best Farscape eps of the whole three seasons is reason enough. 'Crackers don't matter' is darkly comedic in a uniquely Farscape way, whilst 'The Way we Weren't' allows Claudia Black to unleash her undoubted talent as Aeryn Sun. Also it unusually gives an animatronic character (Pilot) an emotional, yet convincing role. Farscape is definitely THE best thing on the small screen.

Review for Farscape 1.2 [1999]:
A well written and witty set of episodes. Brilliant.
Farscape is best described as a breath of fresh air for the Sci-fi community. The show may lack the budget of Startrek or the gritty realism of Babylon 5 but what it does have is a set of characters and a script that are a joy to listen to and watch. In Farscape the relationships between the different characters and their changing attitudes towards each other are well written and played. In this set particularly, new oppinions can be formed about each character, especially in DNA Mad Scientist where certain members of the crew show a darker side to their characters. However by far and away the best relationship is that of Crichton and Rygel. The excellent puppeteering allows for some truely comic moments between the two characters, an episode can be watched just to see these two together. In a word Brilliant.12
Review for Farscape 3.4 [1999]:
3.15: INFINITE POSSIBILITIES - Part 2 ICARUS ABIDES
3.16: REVENGING ANGEL
3.17: THE CHOICE
3.18: FRACTURES
Fans of the series all laud these eps for their quality. In the third box set of the series, you are left on a cliffhanger as the first episode is the first of part sequence. 3.4 leads off with the very powerful and moving conclusion to that story. It is unforgettable and easily in Farscape's top ten of episodes.
The next episode in the set, Revenging Angel, is one of Farscape's most interesting episodes. Without giving away any of the plot, a large part of the episode is animated. This makes a for a very surreal twist in how you view the series as you see them explore less conventional things that other series would shy away from. Needless to say they succeed brilliantly and make an extremely creative and captivating episode.
The third episode in the set, The Choice, is one of Farscape's more dramatic episodes. It is a very well done story that conveys deep emotion. The style makes you feel deeply for the characters. It is extraordinarily well done. Even the action based side plot brings with it more dark emotion, making this a very powerful plot. No viewer could help being drawn into the episode by the storyline and directing style. This is definitely one of the better episodes.
Finally, finishing out the dvd set is Fractures. This is one of Farscape's best suspense episodes, with a mystery twist. Viewers are kept on the edges of their seats as they watch Moya's crew dealing with one problem after another. It also has the crew finally reunite which makes for interesting emotional reactions. Aside from the main plot though, this episode has extremely important foreshadowing of what comes next in the farscape series.
These four episodes are some of the best that Farscape offers. They are vital to the show's story and are vital for any collection. If you want to see some great TV get this set.

Review for Farscape 2.5 [1999]:
A series that goes from strength to stength.
You can't help but be amazed by this series. Not only does it push back the boundries of science fiction set by shows such as Startrek but it consistantly comes up with winning story lines. This set of DVDs is no exception. Half way through the second series we are given a three part story arc that wouldn't look out of place in the cinema. Containing all the elements that has made Farscape the best new sci-fi series on T.V. Romance, action, suspense with the splash of wicked comedy that gives Farscape it's edge. With the evil Scorpius chasing John the crew of Moya find themselves marooned on an ex-peacekeeper planet where John is forced to marry the princess. As any avid Farscape fan will tell you this is going to play havoc with his budding relationship with Aeryn. Ben Browder and Claudia Black put in stirling performances alongside some of the best one-off characters of the series. The second DVD gives you another set of episodes that don't lack in the development of the main cast. My Three Crichtons is a moralistic episode that may not appeal to the new viewer but will make the Farscape fan sit and think. We are alsp treated to a view of Aeryn's softer side in Look after the Dog. Overall a good collection of episodes with a nice set of extras that make the DVDs the good value for money. A series to watch and re-watch.14

LA BOMBA FARSCAPE!!!!
If you've made it this far with Farscape then you'll know this DVD set is the final starburst for this supreme piece of television entertainment. This disc contains IMO the best outing the characters get in season four's erratic and overcomplicated story arc and wow! what a way to finish ....fabulous feature film quality effects, a huge sweeping epic story arc, tons of monsters and bad guys galore, some delicious surprises ......its a travesty that Farscape ends but end it does and this viewer was happy that it does actually conclude. Not the way it was supposed to and not the way the producers intended but there is some closure here and the final episode" Bad Timing" certainly feels like the end. Its also nice to see the long neglected Pilot finally getting his own story arc in the final hour , this alone gives the final show a very unusual quality. The extra features on the disc are a treat but the outakes special is a must for all Scapers - Touching and funny , with Gigi Edgely's final outake taking on a new meaning when she says" The show's over".Farscape. The greatest sci-fi television ever produced. You will be missed. R.I.P

Farscape is such an unbelievably good show that it makes me (a stingy American) willing to go to a UK site and pay the overseas shipping to catch the eps I missed in season 1. If you like sci fi, this will instantly captivate you.16
Review for Farscape 2.4 [1999]:
"Won't Get Fooled Again" is a wild ride through madness as Crichton again returns to Earth. He is a little skeptical this time and is confident he won't get fooled again. A great use of the cast in their alternate roles. Aeryn as a sexy doctor, D'Argo as a boozing fly boy, Chiana as an astronaut groupie, Zahn as the therapist and Rygel as Crichton's new over bearing boss. Oh and mix in Pilot and Scorpy and you have a great episode full of twist and turns.
In the second episode on the DVD you have one of the ultimate Shippy eps with"The Locket." Aeryn returns to Moya having aged 165 cycles and she has only been gone one solar day. It is a taste of the future without having to live it as the crew tries to get out of another sticky predicament. Also, we finally find out what happen to Stark, as he makes a return.
It is full of he said, she said in"The Ugly Truth." The crew re-tell their versions of an incident involving Talyn and Crais. Some great moments as one member pays the price for the rest.
We finally get some answers on Chiana's people the Nebari in"A Clockwork Nebari." Cricthton and Chiana are the only ones who aren't affected by the mind cleansing, or so they think. More backstory on Chiana and a great Rygel quote.
All in all, great set-up for the major push in season two which comes with the Liars, Guns and Money trilogy and Die Me, Dicohtomy in 2.5.

Review for Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars [2005] (REGION 1) (NTSC):
Bad Points:
(1) I have to be honest and admit that it ’ s now been years now since I last watched an episode of ‘ Farscape ’ and I ’ ve probably forgotten now more than I ever learned in regards to these characters and their stories and so for that reason I can definitely appreciate how my experience of this miniseries might have been slightly spoiled by my not remembering every crucial detail from the show. So if it ’ s within your means to watch each of the previous seasons of the programme before you begin this movie then I’d definitely recommend it- you’d probably get a lot more out of it that way.
(2) Some characters are missing and as the makers have clearly gone to a great deal of trouble to bring back so many characters, both the more and less prominent, it ’ s a shame that some are absent.
(3) The extras are pretty sparse- one documentary and some storyboards are the extent. I would have liked more.
(4) The English Subtitles are shockingly inaccurate throughout e.g. “ We ’ ve been hit ” instead of “ We ’ ve been here too long ” .
Good Points:
(1) The movie begins with a great deal of style, visual flare and dramatic tension, and gave me more than a couple of goose bumps- the opening credits and the accompanying voice-over have a real filmic quality and while this style isn ’ t really carried through into the rest of the movie, it does nonetheless act as a great hook.
(2) The score is superb.
(3) The make-up and set-designs are gorgeous.
(4) The ending is fitting (I ’ ll say no more).
Good/Bad Point:
During all Farscape’s years on television I don ’ t think there were ever as many phase pistol shots and missile launches as there are in this movie. The entire miniseries is one long battle punctuated by touching/shocking moments. Depending on your point of view, I suppose this could be either a good or bad thing. Personally, I would have preferred it to have been more segmented, so that the quieter moments would have contrasted better with the various weapons firing, because there’s very little time to absorb some often very consequential events. In that sense I would have appreciated a breather now and again, but you can ’ t have everything I guess.
In its four years on television ‘ Farscape ’ managed to provoke more discussion in Sci-Fi circles (and beyond) than most others manage in considerably longer runs- there was so much debate about each season, so much talk of how the various characters were developing over the years and much attention was paid to the increasingly complex and convoluted storylines. This is the magic of ‘ Farscape ’ for me…that it ’ s never been afraid to experiment, or stand out in the crowd, or mess with the sci-fi formula and the end result is something that in comparison to every other example of the genre is as ‘ out there ’ in the galaxy, as where John Crichton was accidentally transported more than a lifetime ago. For me personally, ‘ Farscape ’ was never a consistently outstanding series, but it was without doubt always enjoyable and the occasional flashes of brilliance it did provide were like opals on the seabed. ‘ The Peacekeeper Wars ’ is no exception.

Review for Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars [2005] (REGION 1) (NTSC):
The galaxy is our playground
I bought this Region 1 DVD because I wasn ’ t prepared to pay the price for the Region 2 DVD, which despite being just over 3 hours in duration and concluding one of my all-time favourite Sci-Fi series, I believe is way over priced. So I have no way of telling you how this DVD compares to the Region 2 European version, but what I can tell you is that I definitely wasn ’ t disappointed by the content of this final Farscape offering. And even though I still believe the Region 2 DVD is over priced, I must admit that I ’ d probably now be willing to pay that price (or something close to it) now that I ’ ve completed this DVD, because I am more than satisfied by its contents and will certainly be watching it again in the future. I had no expectations for how all the events of the fantastic previous seasons of ‘ Farscape ’ might be wrapped-up convincingly and enjoyably in this one-off miniseries, but I’m really pleased to say that almost all my expectations have been fulfilled.Bad Points:

Review for Farscape 3.5 [1999]:
The four set DVD opens with"I Yensch, You Yensch" where we find the resent diplomat Rygel, with D'Argo along for muscle, meeting Scorpius and Braca to hammer out details for the crew to go onto the command carrier. There is a side plot with the foursome being held hostage by some blue monkey guys, but some really great interaction between Scorpius and Rygel. In the"B" story Crichton, Aeryn and Crais must face the facts that young Talyn is seriously unstable and must be shutdown. A great tag line between Crichton and Aeryn which reflects both of their side of the pain they are facing.
The series really hits it stride with Into the Lions Den Part 1 and 2 as Moya's crew goes to the PK command carrier. Great interplay between Crichton and Scorpis and we also see Crais and Aeryn facing people from their past on the command carrier. It is our first meeting with Commandent Grayza and John learns about Scorpy's past. The ending is big-screen quality effects with a sense of loss and no accomplishment filtering through the ending.
It would seem the end of season three, but the Farscape gang has one heck of a cliffhanger in store with"Dog With Two Bones." The crew is preparing to go their seperate ways, but must complete a task before they can. Meanwhile, Crichton dreams of taking Aeryn to earth, and even sees them married. But as usual it is never what he wants or what it seems. It is our first meeting with The Old Woman and also the grand goodbye between Aeryn and Crichton, with a flip to the hands of fate to decide their actions. The end leaves Crichton as well as the audience floating.
Overall a smashing ending to a angst filled season three. I highly recommend this dvd, if for nothing else, the 10 minutes of deleted scenes from"Dog With Two Bones."
