Review for Sex and the City: The Movie [2008]:
The problem with this movie is that it feels more like a nostalgic"look at us, weren't we great" than a real continuation. I do applaud the choice to accept the passing of time and have the women older, but the whole thing feels clunky and overwrought in places. Most of the best supporting characters have been sidelined, and Jennifer Hudson's new character is unnecessary and one note (a waste of her talent). The four women seem to have been turned back into the worst and most cliched versions of themselves.
Carrie was always self absorbed, but her maudlin self pity for the whole movie is grating and over bearing rather than just one facet of a complex woman as it was on the show. She's also focussed far too much on at the expense of the other women, which the TV show wasn't half so guilty of. Samantha is underused with a weak story line (though at least its conclusion seemed very Samantha), and Charlotte is turned into a one note 'my life is perfect' type. There's zero movement with her character in the story though Kristin Davis is as lovely as ever in the part. Only Miranda is done any justice in this movie, and given how inspirational these characters were to so many women it seems criminal.
The much vaunted wedding dress and fashion show sequences just come off as self indulgent, and in general the movie just seems to lack the spunk and spark of its TV predecessor. It all feels like a slightly sloppy patische of the greatness that went before. Perhaps that's inevitable, trying to fill 2+ hours instead of a mere thirty/forty minutes? Please don't get me wrong, it's entertaining and fans of the show will enjoy it, I did, but it's not all I was hoping it would be.

Not bad, but not great
I was a huge fan of the show. It was funny, witty, and well observed. The characters were very well rounded out.The problem with this movie is that it feels more like a nostalgic"look at us, weren't we great" than a real continuation. Review for Tinker Bell [2008]:
J.M. Barrie first created the character Tinker Bell to appear in a play (Peter Pan) and then in a novel (Peter and Wendy) but her worldwide popularity is no doubt largely the result of her appearance in the Disney film that first appeared in 1953, Peter Pan. Tinker Bell later became the official Disney"mascot" in versions of the television series variously known as Walt Disney Presents, Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color, The Wonderful World of Disney, and The Magical World of Disney. The point is, she has been a major entertainment figure for more than 50 years and, at one point, was so popular that she received more fan mail than all others, including Marilyn Monroe.
Of course, children could not care less about her history but they continue to be delighted by her charm and energy. Tinker Bell is by nature a creature whose greatest talent is to"tinker" with whatever needs to be repaired; rather than pots and pans, she uses fairy dust that enables children to fly. Children love to explore secret places as when following Alice down a rabbit hole, or Peter Pan and the Darling children through an open bedroom window and then high above London at night, sailing with Geppetto, Figaro, and Cleo into Monstro's stomach, or visiting Pixie Hollow where Tinker Bell and the other fairies live. As in countless other Disney features, the production values in this film are outstanding, the music is seamlessly integrated with the plot developments, and the humor is appropriately playful. Also, I think the running time (78 minutes) is just right for younger children.
No need to list the special features. Others have listed them and they do add substantial value, although the younger grandchildren with whom I see them seem interested only in the games whereas I much prefer the background material. Some animated features (including the Disney classics as well as several produced by DreamWorks and Pixar) have an almost unlimited shelf-life, retaining great appeal throughout and among various age groups. I doubt if that will be true of Tinker Bell or, for that matter, Peter Pan. However, that said, I think that those who have seen it, as they grow older, will still enjoy seeing it again and again with younger companions if only to observe their delight. For me, the fairy dust has lost none of its potency after all these years...and never will. How wonderful!

Review for Family Guy - Series 7 - Complete:
Only twelve episodes accompany this season, the lowest in a Family Guy DVD season yet!! While the show is as funny as ever this set is an complete shambles and will leave you hungry for more. Maybe that was Fox's intention, so we would rush out and buy the next half of a season on DVD which will probably be released in another year's time. I hope Fox sees sense and starts to release them complete and not just a handful at a time.
Overall: Family Guy is as hilarious as it always is but with this Season it will be over before you know it. 3/5.

Give Us More Episodes!!!
Finally, after a year since the release of Family Guy Season Six comes Season Seven. I've been a Family Guy fan since the beginning, since it was aired on Channel 4 at 6pm in 1999 here in the UK. I have bought every single season on DVD. With the release of Season Four, Fox decided that it would only release half seasons for the price of a full season (seasons one, two and three were the complete seasons). It didn't stop me buying them but I felt a little cheated. Now we have Season Seven.Only twelve episodes accompany this season, the lowest in a Family Guy DVD season yet!! Review for Frankie Boyle Live [2008]:
One of the highlights of the DVD is the parts where he interacts with the audience - his reputation as a 'doesn't hold back comedian' precedes him, and the audience look permantly on edge as to whether he is going to prey on them and it is pure brilliance to watch the way he diligently and comically tortures a wide variety of people, from the 'big fellers' to the ones with boring jobs. No one is safe.
Although he is without a doubt a shocking and quite ruthless comedian, there is a softer side beneath the sarcastic veneer that can be seen (only briefly, mind) when mentioning his children and elderly people, and occasionally in the extras.
This would be a brilliant addition to anyone's comedy collection, whether you are a FB fan already or you have only just briefly heard him mentioned and want to check out the Scottish master at work - but newcomers beware, his style of comedy is harsh and makes comparable comedy performers seem quite tame.

Review for Frankie Boyle Live [2008]:
Fiendishly funny and just a little bit wicked
I think Frankie Boyle is amazing on Mock the Week and is definately one of the main reasons I watch the show - he's cutting edge and fearless wit never fails to shock and/or amuse and this DVD is no different. His new material is hilarious, combining topical observations with his general dislike of most things in society. The DVD is interspersed with some of the stuff you may have seen on Mock the Week slightly repackaged, but there's plenty of gaps in between and its his delivery that makes it once again funny. Review for Sleeping Beauty (50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) [1958]:
This is a new release of a Disney classic that first appeared in 1959. As is my custom, I much prefer to watch an animated feature film with several of my younger grandchildren (ages 3-7) and did so again with Sleeping Beauty on its 50th anniversary. Once again, they were engrossed in the story line whereas I was somewhat more interested in how the quality of animation measures up (after 59 years) when compared and contrasted with recent films such as Toy Story and Toy Story 2, the three Shreks, Ratatouille, Cars, and Wall-E. It measures up remarkably well. Just as there is a certain charm in black-and-white classic films from the 1930's and 40's (e.g. Casablanca, The Little Shop Around the Corner, and It Happened One Night), the same is true of older Disney features (e.g. Dumbo, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Pinocchio) despite relatively less sophisticated animation.
There were also generational differences when my companions and I examined the special features that include"Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough (a fully immersive virtual tour), an all-new"Enchanted Dance Game," the"Dragon Encounter Audio Sensory Experience," and an all-new"Making of Sleeping beauty." Predictably, my grandchildren much preferred the supplementary games whereas I was (as always) intrigued by the"behind the screen" material such as a discussion of the film by John Lasseter of Pixar, the film critic Leonard Maltin, and the Disney animator Andreas Deja. The production values in this new edition are superb, especially in the Blu-ray version. The running time of 75 minutes seems just about right. Whatever the ages of those who see this film and one or more of its numerous special features, they will find much to enjoy and appreciate.
The story line is strikingly similar to the one in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. A daughter named Aurora is born to royal parents and then cursed to die by her 16th birthday by an evil fairy, Malificent. To protect her, three good fairies take her away, re-name her Briar Rose, and raise her themselves. A handsome prince meets her by chance, they fall in love, and agree to meet again soon. However, on the night of her 16th birthday, as she prepares to return to her parents and be crowned a princess, the evil fairy locates her and then.... Fortunately, everything eventually works out for Aurora as it also does for Snow White, Belle, and other Disney heroines.
I highly recommend this 50th anniversary celebration of one of Disney's most delightful animated films. Under-appreciated when first released, I think it will now receive the praise it so clearly deserves. Bravo!

Review for The Complete Fawlty Towers [1975]:
As well as the priceless mechanics of the structure it frames some of the greatest dialogue ever committed to tape,"A satisfied customer; we should have him stuffed.","I should never have let you write that advert, fancy putting `No Riff-Raff'". The dialogue is a course delivered with perfect timing by the fantastic ensemble cast. A hotel is the most fantastic setting for a sit-com, as well as the regulars the stories can be driven by new characters arriving and then leaving as guests. Unfortunately a hotel can never again be used for a sit-com setting, comparison to `Fawlty Towers' would always leave them wanting.

Review for The Complete Fawlty Towers [1975]:
Fawlty Towers, Faultless Comedy
`Fawlty Towers' if not the greatest sit-com ever then is definitely the second greatest sit-com ever. Each episode is a faultless masterpiece of farce with Basil Fawlty generally starting out with a small deception, normally from his wife and `nest of vipers' Sybil, which he tries to cover up with greater and greater deceptions until it all comes crashing down on him in a perfect conclusion which ties up all the loose ends in a manner Tolstoy would have needed over a thousand pages to bring home.As well as the priceless mechanics of the structure it frames some of the greatest dialogue ever committed to tape,"A satisfied customer; we should have him stuffed.","I should never have let you write that advert, fancy putting `No Riff-Raff'". Review for The Jungle Book : 40th Anniversary 2 Disc Special Edition [1967] [1968]:
This limited edition collector's item won't be around forever so get in quick! At the time of writing there is only a couple of pounds difference in price between this and the standard edition - a small price for collectors to pay.
This set comes in a book-shaped box containing the DVDs themselves and the bonus book. The book is about the same size as a DVD box and tells the Jungle Book story in illustrations from the film. Some reviewers may have preferred a copy of the Jungle Book itself but it is this charming little book is what actually makes this set collectable! It is only available as a part of this package.

Review for Mock The Week - Too Hot For TV [2005]:
For those not entirely familiar then think Whos Line is it Anyway? crossed with Have I Got News For You. It takes improv comedy and mixes it with that weeks hot news topics, generally political though. If you've seen the show on BBC TV then you know that they allow a lot of full on jokes to make it to TV, so I'm promising the DVD will be that more offensive.

Review for Mock The Week - Too Hot For TV [2005]:
How Does The BBC Do It?
The BBC will always be known in England for its topical comedy panel shows. Never Mind The Buzzcocks, QI and Have I Got News For You are but a few great comedy panel shows. When Mock The Week first came along I didn't have any sort of scepticism relating to it as I knew that with Dara O'Briain at the helm and Frankie Boyle on the panel it was bound to be hysterical. It was not only hysterical but pants wetting controversy as when you give Frankie Boyle a platform, you're bound to be offended somehow. He's the ultimate king of offensive comedy and although he touches on things like race and sexuality, he does it in a way that to some would be considered racist or homophobic but those people still laugh their heads off.For those not entirely familiar then think Whos Line is it Anyway? crossed with Have I Got News For You. Review for Blackadder: Complete Collection - BBC Series 1-4 & The Specials:
What makes Blackadder one of the great is its variety of different comedy which is mixed well. Perhaps most famous for its sarcastic wit, of which is does like no other show, it also uses other humour to good extend and thus has something for everyone.
All the characters are well written and acted meticulously. Each actor brings his or her own special quality to the show, yet it can never be said any upstage the other, they compliment each other.
This will have you laughing long and hard and something you will want to go back to time after time.

summary: ok I'm biased, I love animated movies, martial art movies, and comedy in general but this really got to me - your kids will love it too!========================
Jack Black voices Po, a lazy, overweight Panda who idolises the Furious Five kung fu champions: Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Crane (David Cross), Viper (Lucy Liu) and Monkey (Jackie Chan). However, when Po gatecrashes an initiation ceremony, he is accidentally chosen to be the mythical Dragon Warrior, who is destined to save his valley from the villainous leopard Tai Lung (Ian McShane).
The Furious Five are mortified that Po has gatecrashed their ranks, but Master Oogway (Randall Duk Kim) tells them that there are no accidents and this is indeed Po's destiny. However, when word reaches the Five that Tai Lung has escaped from prison, Po has to get into shape fast, so he begins training under Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman).
