3 discs?

I love family guy,and I love the box set, but I got three discs, one is season 7 part 1, and two copies of season 7 part two. Did this happen to anyone else?

Lost season 4

What a rip off .. 2 whole dvds of extras. so in reality only 4 dvds of the series .. Although it in my opinion is the best so far , it is well overpriced.

Clever, intelligent, realistic, slightly boring

The Wire is the latest in a long line of programmes that newspaper reviewers tell us are the best thing on TV. Six Feet Under, The Sopranos, Battlestar Galactica, now The Wire. And like all these other shows it is good. It is a show with three dimensional characters in believable real world situations. It deals with issues that other programmes don't touch. It is intelligent and complex and everything you would want from challenging TV. Like all these other greatest TV shows it is also a little boring.

There are other shows which have little of the qualities listed above. They are full of stereotypes and clichés. There is a despicable villain and an unusually good looking team of detectives with unfeasibly accurate powers of detection. Every episode ends on a cliffhanger. Let us face it. They are rubbish. But every week you cannot wait to see what happens next.

So, to sum up. If you want social realism and a challenge then get The Wire, it's perfect for you. If you want some less worthy and just require entertainment then get Dexter instead.

IT'S SO GOOD I'M CAMPAIGNING FOR WW - THE SANTOS YEARS!

West Wing exceeds all expectations and having just finished the 7th series I'm gutted they're not planning the next 7 series of THE WEST WING - THE SANTOS YEARS?! All the characters have been set up to continue and whilst it would have a different dynamic without the amazing Martin Sheen, I think it could work. Shall we all petition?! Anyway, BUY THIS, it's excellent.

That has to be one of my favourite lines from a sitcom that has so much quality in it! You can pick any episode and find many great lines in it. The writing and the acting are both superb, this is a must have for your DVD collection.

Poor DVD for a nice serie

I like the serie but was surprised there was no subtitles at all.
Amazon sites should be more informative on the language features of the DVDs.

world class

Not much can be said that hasnt already been said about season two of the wire,all the superlatives in the world have been used to describe this series,some of course will argue that this isnt as good as season one,i can say for the record that its as good if not better.
This time the drama unfolds in the dockland area of baltimore and involves murder,corruption,greed and much more,this is tense and cagey tv at its very best,laced with a bit more humour than series one but with a snarling attitude being prominent.
The usual band of characters return and we are introduced to new characters who play such an important part in this show,i certainly wont give anymore away but this is brilliant and thats all i have to really say on the issue.

Wonderful stuff

This is one of the finest TV shows ever, with lines as funny as watching Celine Dion being tarred and feathered by music lovers and acted better than Olivier. Buy this.

great stuff

Yes it's a bit over the top and stretches the truth a bit. However, what a great romp. As for Jonathan Rhys Meyers being too good looking,I would like to remind the"historians" that Henry was once considered to be the"Golden Prince", and described as the most handsome in all of Europe.
It was only after his leg became too bad for him to ride and play sports did he become obese.

ONe of the greatest pieces of TV - ever!

Quite simply this is brilliant. Producing the book as a TV series gave the director the opportunity to indulge in Waugh's lush and vivid text and whole sections of the book are quoted verbatim. And of course, in hindsight, the casting was inspired, with Jeremy Irons as Rider and Anthony Andrews as the rather beautiful Sebastian Flyte. But don't forget such cameo's as Nikolas Grace as the effete Anthony Blanche - masterful!
The film I understand, leaves a lot to be desired, so better to buy this AND read the book. You will regret buying neither.

brillant

My brother just bought this for me (I put him up rent free for months when he came back from traveling). One of the best things he has ever got me. There are five DVDs and I've already watched three, I've only had it a week.

When you watch it your just in awe of the scenery, it's beautiful. There is a purposefully made score for it that just adds to the enjoyment. As for people that say they can't hear David Attenborough because of the music, they must be deaf the music always quietens down when he talks. I love the Planet Earth Diaries parts, it's very enjoyable to watch.

I may be wrong but I think this was the first or first major nature progamme to be filmed fully in HD and it's all the better for it.

Excellent Third Season

The third season of the wire is as brilliant as the Two that came before it. if you've seen the first two seasons then you must watch this too.

Not season 1, but still good

This series started off with the same quality as season 1, and got me hooked again. However, shame to say, this was one of the shows heavily affected by the writers strike in the US. The start of the series starts slow and builds just as season 1, but ends up speeding up far too quickly by the conclusion for my liking. I got to episode 10 thinking we were half way through, only to realise there are only 2 episodes to go. It all felt a bit rushed. In effect then this is really only half a series, and expect that season 3 will pick up where this left off. Some great new characters, so looking forward to Season 3

great films- but not as good as the originak

First of all- the critics slated these films far too much- this was George Lucas's vision for the prequel- how should they know whats best?

The phantom menace though was weak- looking back on it it had the film maturity for a 11 year old. Darth Maul is good in it and the mystery about Qui Gon Jinn with his mysterious death(different to other jedi's- this comes back in episode 3). Lucas could have picked a better way to portray a planet being bullied by a bigger state and needing a big alliance's help- bit like Georgia and Russia. In the end it lacked the haunting style the first trilogy had. 6/10

Attack of the Clones- I think this was a great installment- much more mature- and i would say the best one out of the trilogy- works to piece it all together and you can see the myths and the future all coming together. The anakin padme love story is dramatic and gives the trilogy a real storyline- Count Dooku- Christopher Lee is brilliant in this- and its good to see the Jedi's in action as the clone wars break out- 8/10

Revenge of the Sith- This one im giving a higher rating because of the enjoyment and entertainment value. The action scenes are great and the dramatic climax to the film is thrilling- the Jedi's subsequent demise, Yoda's revealing of his force powers- he was unlucky to lose- and the epic fight between anakin and obi wan- go obi wan!!!
The passion is there with anakin and padme- and you can feel the terrorism in the film as the Jedi's get wiped out and the clone wars destroy the galaxy- shades of the darkness of the first trilogy- which is good. And for every star wars fan the linking up is great- Qui Gon's imortality, Luke and Leia being given away- and Darth Vader and the emporor overlooking the death star- with a certain Grand moff tarkin next to them. Great 9/10

Memories and future excitement!

I was seven when Star Wars first came out in the cinema, and ever since, a full 31 years, I have been hooked on the films. Now I introduce my son to them, and yaaay! Here we go again! All the memories flood back, and there is his newfound excitement adding to my enjoyment of what had to be one of the best ever trilogies put up on the big screen.

It isn't just the movies, but having the option to watch either the digitally remastered version, or the older version that I remember better, is a great thing. From the special effects, to the fantastic cast, the scene setting opening credits, with that amazing musical sound track, the weird and wonderful aliens, right through to the pithy relationship of Leia and Han, these were truly fantastic movies, and should be in everyone's collection. Not just for the now, and those of us who remember them originally, but for the future, when we can delight in introducing others to the eternal fight of good against evil, and the story of determination, love, and hope that these movies represent.

Now, where did I leave my popcorn...

Clean sweep needed

I've been following Spooks from the start and season 6 is a decent enough season but more of the characters need to be culled as they are getting a bit stale. Still, definitely one of the best spy dramas around. At least it's not about some skinny twenty-something with big boobs kicking the world's arse like most of what comes out of the US at the mo. .... not that there's anything wrong with that mind you!
