BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't really speak highly enough of this piece of kit. Been wanting a new camera for a while and when I saw this one for this price, couldn't order it fast enough. Great size, superb quality pics, fantastic features. For a small camera to use on your hols, family event and stuff look no further.

Recommended camera

I originally ordered the new Canon from QVC (about £220) and although it was very small, perhaps too small, I found the menu system confusing. After returning it I set about trying to find a replacement for the 4 year old Panasonic that stopped working (unusual for a Panasonic). Originally I was put off because the TZ5 is bigger than the smallest compacts more easily pocketable in a coat pocket than shirt pocket. I need not have have worried as the Pansonic is certainly easily carried around without being an encumbrance. My definition is"do you know you are carrying it" and the answer to this is"no". In its favour the menu system is easy, the wide angle is great and the zoom is fantastic for such a small camera. It's HD movie mode promises to be a bonus. It feels robust in use and because it's a little larger than the real"tinies" it's actually easier to use and handle. The large screen is very detailed and a great improvement in clarity (460k I believe, whatever that means)

After lots of research on suppliers I actually bought from Big City Digital (co.uk). I called them after a credit card query and got them easily and the camera and accessories arrived the following day, all at a price beating cost. I recommend both the supplier and the camera

Great camera, excellent value

I bought this camera after being impressed by the picture quality of the cybershot photos on my sony mobile phone.
The camera is really easy to use, i prefer to use the auto setting and my photos always turn out well.
It can take a fair amount of punishment. I have dropped it countless times on nights out and even had drinks spilled on it and it still looks and works perfectly.
If you are looking for an easy to use camera that gives you great quality pictures every time then this is the camera for you.

Excellent camera

I've had this camera for a few weeks now and brought it specifically because I wanted to step up a grade with my photography as I was expecting my first Grandchild. I have to say I have not been disappointed. The camera is extremely easy to use on auto but also has several more"professional" settings to suit various conditions - all easy to understand and use. Just take the time to read the easy to follow instruction booklet that comes with the camera and follow the automatic guides on the camera itself. The quality of the pictures is excellent in all the modes. Some of the portraits that I have taken and subsequently enlarged and printed on my home PC/printer actually look quite professional. I purchased card reader separately that makes it extremely easy to download, burn onto CD and print the pictures. I have also used the camera on video mode and the results were also excellent. I highly recommend this camera to anyone who wants to step up a level or two from taking snaps on a pocket digital camera. This camera is bigger than the average digi camera and won't fit in your pocket but the standard of the pictures makes it well worth the minor inconvenience of carrying this slighly larger camera about with youFujifilm FinePix S5800 Digital Camera - Black (8.0MP, 10x Optical Zoom).

Superb first DSLR!

Feeling the urge to move into DSLRs after struggling to get the shots I was after with a Point n Shoot, I ended up with the A200 and I am very very happy.

I took a long time deciding between the A200, A300, D60 and EOS450D. What did it for me was price, inbuilt anti shake and many positive reviews out there for the A200. I wasn't too fussed for Live View on the A300, and despite the Nikon and Canon having the bigger rep, the price difference was just too much. With the money I saved over the Nikon/Canon I have purchased a bag, Sigma 70-300mm lens and a polarising filter.

Overall the A200 is superb! Very easy to use, good in the hands and produces some stunning images. Even the misses has got on great with it and we both now big DSLR fans.

Don't hesitate if your thinking about it.

Simply Stunning

Been playing with this all evening, and the amount of features it's got for such a small compact is simply stunnning. The zoom is great (5x), and the quality of the pictures all impress.

I upgraded from a DSC-W100, and find it a huge leap forward. Highly recommended.

Lovely Camera

I am thrilled with the purchase of my first digital camera. It's compact, light and gorgeous in pink! Also, the best price through Amazon. It was really easy to start using and takes excellent pictures/vids which are really easy to upload. The camera may be small but the screen is ample. I also purchased a 2Gb card for extra storage. Shame it doesn't come with a decent case. Buy it and enjoy it!

nifty litle camera

Wow! what a great little camera and so cheap for what it does! This has to be the best value for money for a compact digital. I have reduced the pixel count to 5mp and in good light this produces pictures that are bright, nicely saturated and full of detail. It is a bit plasticy, hence 4 stars, and does not do all of the things that more expensive compacts are capable of doing. However, when you think about what you want a compact for, it doesn't make much sense to buy something that costs as much as a DSLR. Just point and shoot - this does the job surprisingly well and looks stylish too. It is light, small enough for a shirt pocket and pretty responsive in terms of finding focus. Low light capability? not great, but no worse than most digital compacts on the market. I use cameras a lot and am quite satisfied with this one as a very good budget camera that delivers good quality pictures.

This camera is excellent value for what you get.

I particularly like the fast start-up, small size and good battery life. Essential qualities in the sort of environment you would normally use this level of digital camera.

Great camera for a first-timer!

This camera is a strightforward, no-nonsense model for someone who wants a quality digital camera for holidays, special occasions etc. It's really easy to set up and the resolution is good too. So far, so good!

Cool-looking camera that gives sharp bright photos

After being really impressed with the picture quality from a friends Sony Cybershot DSC-W100 I decided to take the plunge with a Sony camera. This model took my eye because of the black design. After a few months of playing around (being a casual photographer) I am very happy with my purchase.

For me, the major plus points are:
sharp high resolution images at 8.1MP
a hefty 4x optical zoom
powerful flash that gives you superb photos in poor light
user-friendly menu and navigation
great looking camera

The low points are:
the camera is smaller than I imagined, feeling awkward in my clumsy hands
relatively small LCD screen - at 2.5cm (my old Kodak camera had 3cm)
annoying music when you turn it on - I havent got round to turning the sound off

I also advise getting a decent case as the screen looks like it will scratch easily.

Brill camera

I bought the Sony dscw110 a little over a month ago. I am not a brilliant photographer however, the camera is small, light, looks good, takes brilliant photographs and is so easy to use a child could use it.
Very impressed also with the prompt delivery from Amazon.
Impressed all round.

Just hope it doesn't break

Fujifilm cameras seem to suffer from poor build quality, mine packed up after a few months. Then the trouble begins, Fuji UK customer service is one of the worst I have ever encountered, they made ever effort to avoid repairing the camera, it was a nightmare.
Buy from another manufacturer, none can be worst than Fuji UK.

Do not buy the Ixus 960

Worst camera I have owned. Extremely disappointed with this camera. Wish I had gone for the G9. Lens jammed within a month, Amazon were very unhelpful over this and would not exchange camera and I had to get it repaired and had to wait a month while it was sent to Germany to be fixed. 8 out of 10 photos are over exposed and the colours are bleached. Complete rubbish. Had a 3 year old Sony that produced infinity better picture (until it went in the pool).DO NOT BUY ONE

Super camera for the money, tough, easy to use and the photo quality is great.
The buttons are a little bit counter intuative and the screens resolution is low but it is only a £60 camera.
don't be put off by the low f number either, outdoors on a clouday day I was getting some good surfing action shots with no blurring. Indoors is its weak point, a gloomy post surf pub resulted in terrible pictures.

So all in all a craking camera for outdoor wet fun!

Fantastic

I brought this camera as a replacement for a Samsung S1065, which immediately froze multiple times whenever i tried to use it, plus the batteries ran out in 1/2 hour usage.

Anyway, The Fujifilm Finepix J10 is a very aesthetically pleasing camera with a brushed aluminium front (black or silver) and aluminium back. This camera certainly feels as if it can withstand some serious knocks. The form factor for this camera is certainly compact; this is enabled by the use of a Li-Ion rechargeable battery, rather than your standard AA Alkaline batteries. This charges fully in just over 1.4 hours and provides very reasonable battery life.

The features on this camera are simple and necessary; there is no facial recognition or 9 point automatic focus. But what it does do, it does fantastically well. I have a Canon EOS10D Digital SLR camera for professional work, brought this fuji for the odd point and shoot session. The built in scenes work incredibly well, and do exactly what they are supposed to. The 8 MegaPixel Sensor inside this camera produces large photos that will easily print out up to A4 photographs and the single point Auto focus is very good at making your subject nice and sharp.

Fujifilm are renowned for producing cameras that capture vivid colours and the J10 is no exception, the colours are vivid and stand out (whilst not being overpowering). The flash copes well in both day and night situations.

The menu system for this camera, some say, is too simple and not intuitive. I disagree with this view; I find the minimalistic menu and navigation buttons easy to use, and a refreshing change from a complex DSLR camera. The J10 is an awesome camera for any beginner, or (like me) someone who wants a good quality point and shoot camera for the odd days out.

Connectivity to XP and Vista was simple, no drivers, no software, just plug in the provided USB cable and access the camera as an external disk.
The only negative point about this camera is the animation it shows when deleting images; it deletes the image in blocks, each block revealing a blue background. So the deleted image seems to break up and fade away. There is no option to stop this animation, possibly room for improvement in a future firmware upgrade. However this single negative point can easily be overcome, by purchasing a larger memory card and not deleting photos until you get home and load them onto your computer.

All in all, the Finepix J10 by Fujifilm is a highly recommended camera with no unnecessary bells and whistles but the ability to produce a fantastically sharp, and vivid photo with ease, in a true point and shoot style.

Just what I wanted

Have had this little beauty for some months now and I have only two frustrations. Firstly it took me so long to make up my mind to buy it and secondly, in retrospect, I wish I could screw on a filter.

What I wanted was a camera that would serve as a happy snapper on holiday etc and also deliver quality pics when I had the time to put my mind to it. The G9 does this this with no hassle, crisp and controlled just like any quality SLR.

Instruction manual is a bit of a lump. It was useful to print when I first bought it but was not that long before it was discarded to the bookshelf.

The screw on filter thing, well I knew what I was doing when I bought it. Its just a shame that for such a great camera it does not have the facility. Being so SLR in every other respect it raises your expectations, its really that good. However I guess it was awkward to design for with a retracting lense. By the way the video function is pretty ok too.

I have seen the new G10 with all its tweeks and to be honest it just demonstrates what a bargin the G9 is right now.

Top of it's Game

Wow, this thing is just so far head of everything else. It's a gorgeous bit of kit , & not too slim , like some of the compacts, but it is still small. The Titanium coating on the stainless steel body is gorgeous & makes it tougher & more scratch resistant.The menu system is a dream plus very easy to use. Having just upgraded from a"Big"Fuji 6800 that I bought in 2000, this seems tiny & hi-tech. Other than all the mega pixels , the main draw point for me was the inclusion of an optical view-finder which can extend your shot capacity per battery charge by having the screen off. The Fuji had one , but it is almost impossible to find a compact with one these days. I hate composing your shot on the screen, I must be old fashioned I guess, but I love having the big screen to browse through the menu, & what an array of options.Black & white was a new one to me but one I hope to use a lot , as I like to draw, & to draw in pencil from a B & W subject matter is far easier to transpose to the correct shades. Smile recognition is a sticky one though & I have a feeling this may not work all the time, but then again who knows ? Overall ? WOW ! Brilliant. Top Dog.

Camera buyer beware

Nope I can't tell if this camera will meet your needs..But warn you when buying your camera no mater what make. Be sure that the camera is distributed from the UK otherwise you won't get any rebate and if you do get a fault you will have to ship it to the country of origin.. If in any doubt get email proof from the seller before you part with your hard earnt cash..

I have been researching a new camera and have been surprised by the number of non UK cameras being sold on Amazon and by other companies on the web.
