Absolutely superb

I got this after buying a Hoover DM 4493 D Vacuum Cleaner - and after throwing that piece of utter junk in the bin (see my review) I thought I would give the Hoover brand a big body swerve and try a Dyson.

The comparison between the 2 products is quite unbelievable. The Dyson is everything the Hoover isn't. Lightweight, maneuverable, powerful - so easy to use.

I used the Dyson in one room after it had just been"hoovered" and the amount of dust that got picked up was amazing.

My wife thought the ball might be a bit of gimmick, but she things it's a great vacuum as well.

The extendable pole is a superb bit of design too, no daft hose flapping about - it's well out the way until it's required.

In summary - highly recommended. My first Dyson, and I really can't see myself ever purchasing any other brand.

poor suction

after having read the previous reviews on this model, i decided to buy it instead of the dc25 due to its size and weight.
unfortunatly i didnt check out the suction on it compared to the dc 25.
the dc 24 only has 100 airwatts suction compared to the 220 airwatts of the dc 25, which although it does pick up dirt/hairs, it doesnt do it at good as you would expect for nearly £200.
i have therefore returned it and am now ordering a dc25 as replacement.

Brilliant

Bought this product on the feedback provided by earlier buyers and was pleased to note that the reviews are spot on. I have a long hairded dachshund who sweeps the streets everytime he goes out and then trails into the house so I needed a cleaner that works and works well. I won't go over what has already been stated except to say it is easy to use and the results were brilliant. I normally get a professional to clean my carpets (at some expense). This machine cleaned my carpets as well as, if not better than the professionals!

Practical but not as long lasting as I'd hoped

Very powerful, and takes a bit of stick. But the last 2 Henrys have lasted about 2 1/2 years each. Listen out for a fizzing noise when it is plugged in but turned off. That seems to be a sign it is about to fry.

Dustbag Genius

Wow, who invented these? I've got one fitted to my Henry Vacuum Cleaner - a highly recommended product - Numatic HVR200 Henry Vacuum Cleaner Red 1200W - and it is one of many I have used. No rips, overflows, burst bags or general delinquency yet. They just do the job they're designed for, and they do it well. They're so brilliant I'm thinking of marrying one.

I USE MINE EVERY DAY!

I think this item is amazing, i have had many hand held vacuums in the past and none compares to this. It makes life so simple, so much that mine is used every day virtually. Yes it has a short battery life but its only meant to pick up small dry messes, etc. If i wanted to do a spring clean with a vacuum i would use my large dyson. A must have for any busy person!

To Be Avoided Like The Plague !

This machine has been selling at 1/2 price for a reason not only is it heavy and unwieldy but it causes damage to hard floors also there's no suction when not using the brushes, Best forgotten

its a very average-quallity product

We purchased this product from Amazon after reading all the good stuff about it and the price was also a big attraction. However we have realized that this is a very average product and that explains its price. I will not recommend it if your carpets are heavily soiled. This is an entry level product which will lift dirt from your carpets, however, nothing close even to restoration to as-new. As far as other reviews are concerned, i think that either these people have carpets which are fairly new or these are one of those who get paid to write reviews. Nothing wrong in the mechanism of machine its just that the method it uses is not very effective.

Dyson DC07 Origin

Difficult to imagine how inefficient my other vacuum cleaners were until I powered up this"beast"!
The upright and the"wand" (the cylinder-like hose attachment) both removed quite dramatic amounts of dirt, dust, fluff and detritus from what I had imagined was a clean carpet.
I'm sitting staring in disbelief at the amount of stuff in the bagless dirt/rubbish container.
I recommend this machine.

Don't think twice

Like another reviewer, I did plenty of research here & elsewhere before I bought. I don't buy a new vacuum every 5 minutes; when I buy one I expect it to last for years & years, so I took my time before deciding! The reviews were probably enough, but it was the"No loss of suction for 6 years" guarantee that swung it for me. Anyhow, the first time I used it, I was so enthusiastic that I broke off one of the extension tube holders when I hit it against the arm of the sofa! One phone call, answered by a real person, & a bag of replacement clips - all I needed plus more - were in the post. Other manufacturers should note how much we appreciate good after-care.
Never had a 'see what's in the bag' hoover before, so it was a bit of an eye opener to note how bad our carpets actually were! The main machine sucks really well & the small Turbo Tool is nothing short of fantastic for the stairs. It is a bit heavier than my old cleaner, but it's not too bad & it gives me much-needed exercise! I can't recommend highly enough, especially at £69.99. Go for it quickly, before they're all gone.

vax 124 duel

I DIDNT KNOW WHICH ONE TO BUY BUT I BOUGHT THE VAX 124 SO I FILLED IT I JUST WANTED TO SEE HOW IT WORKED SO I DID SOME PARTS OFF THE CARPET WITH MARKS ON THE MAKS CAME OUT I KEEPED USE ING IT UNTILL NON MORE WATER CAME UP THE CARPET WAS CLEAN TOOK THE BOTTOM CONTAINER OFF TIPED THE DIRTY WATER DOWN THE SINK WASHED IT OUT PUIT BACK READY TO USE AGAIN SO SIMPLE AND EASY TWO CONTAINERS ONE CLEAN ONE DIRTY NOT TWO CONTAINERS IN ONE A VERY GOOD VAX

Great for cleaning your electrical goods

I'm a computer enthusiast so I have a couple of working PCs in my room which after a month or so starts accumulating a lot of dust inside. I used to use compressed air (rather expensive) to blast out the dust while holding a vacuum cleaner in the other hand to suck up the floating clumps of dust.

Now with this brush, since the hair is very soft, I can use it to directly brush the components inside while sucking up the dust. Because it doesn't cost me anything per use (unlike the can of compressed air), I clean my PCs around once a week, keeping them dust-free and running efficiently.

Also great for cleaning any other electrical goods like TVs, DVD players, radio etc.

A must-have for Dyson users.

superb machine

Amazon service amazing! I bought this product two days ago and it was delivered this afternoon. I put it together myself as it was so easy. I had avoided Dysons before as they are so expensive even though I had heard good reports about them. I really wish I had bought one earlier now! This machine is just superb. Not as noisy as my month old Vax which I really hated as it blows air at my face. Really easy to manouver. I love it!

great little machine

As an owner of a couple of cats and having always found it difficult to get the stair carpet clear of cat fur- I ordered this machine with little real hope that it would be able to get fur easily off the carpet. However, charged it up for 3 hours, turned it on and hey presto, stairs cleaned of car fur easily with no real difficulty.
Would recommend this to anyone with pets as it does what it says- the rotating head attachment clears through carpet pile, its light and easy to use, its not too noise and charges easily. The instructions are a little unclear- only pictures with little text but did manage to figure the pictures out. That is pretty small negative though as on the whole it is user friendly and gives great results.

Ingenius!! A sweet cheap gift!!

I have no idea what the other reviewer had against this product, Dude it costs only £[...]!!! Anyway this is an effective little gift that works as well as can be expected and is well made.

Good for a few months

I really liked this mop at first and recommended it to two friends. Although after a few months it stopped steaming. This also happened to one of my friends machines. So only 2 Stars.

Present for my wife

Our old vacuum broke down in the middle of a major house clean up. (I was doing the hovering so like everything it was my fault) My wife had always talked about how much she wanted a Dyson so I thought I could earn a couple of extra brownie points and splashed out. She was absolutely delighted and raves about how brilliant it is. She has even allowed me to have a go. The DC19 is a brilliant vacuum on both wooden and carpeted floors. It has great suction and is easy to use, although steering it takes a little getting used to. Other reviews have mentioned problems with removing the collection compartment saying it is tricky to detach. My wife is disabled and has major problems with her hands but can manage it quite easily. The flat head standard attachment is great, because it is so thin you can get almost half of the head under a sofa or low unit where a standard head simply wouldn't go. Overall it has a good quality feel about it. It's styling is futuristic but personally I don't think there is anthing wrong in that. On the negative side I would agree that it is quite noisy but a small price to pay for clean floors!
