Perfect for what I need

Yep, this really is as great of a monitor as all the reviews here say it is. After setting my resolution to 1440x900 it was easy to setup. Just make sure to update your monitor driver in the device manager in windows. I failed to do this and was somewhat dissapointed at first. The last TFT monitor I bought around a year ago for about the same price was so rubbish that I sent it back straight away. This one on the other hand is brilliant. I think they must have come on a long way since then.

More than adequate

Got the monitor because I was replacing a laptop. As I am not a gamer, graphic artist, nor database freak I was looking for something cheap which looked good. Monitor arrived in good time. However, they had managed to pack two vga leads and software rather than a vga and a power lead. Ironically, I did not need the vga lead as I had bought a dvi lead. Because I work in IT I had a spare power lead but you may not. Dvi lead does allow you to rotate the screen but, as you cannot rotate the monitor it impossible to control the mouse until you tilt your head to 90 degrees! Didn't know it had speakers, tried them, but went back to dedicated speakers immediately.

It comes with a perspex sheet taped over the monitor for protection. The bonus is it makes a great crazy mirror - I have not taken it off yet <g>.

Great LCD for serious work

I did serious research into what monitor I should buy. Samsung won and I am really pleased with it. The picture quality is stunning and works really well with my Mac. The colours need calibration though as by default they are really vivid ( compared to my Mac ).
The downside is that it is not height adjustable, does not have speakers and there are only 2 USB ports, hence only 4 stars from me.
You can have 100% view of two A4 next to each other which is important for me.
And be careful with some sellers, they state this monitor is 2ms and has speakers which is simply not true.

A shame about the tuner

OK if you have a good strong TV signal. If not just recognise that what you are getting is just a good monitor. I bought this and the Samsung equivalent within a week of each other. When I called LG to ask what was wrong the man on the end of the 'phone admitted the tuner card was not up to scratch. The simple truth is KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid), if you want a TV buy a TV, if you want a monitor buy a monitor. If you want both in 1 box buy the Samsung.

Excellent monitor

Bought this monitor after much searching on the net and reading reviews.

Arrived the following day and believe me is took longer to get the monitor out of the box, than setting it up.

What a doddle to set up. It took 5 minutes and i'm not a computer wizard.

I bought this 22" tft monitor for doing every day computer tasks and for my digital photography hobby. The choice was down to the contrast and resolution. This monitor is fab and the pics on the monitor are razor sharp, which helps when using photoshop cs2.

I'm delighted I bought a wide screen monitor, and a very good investment for the future.

I cannot fault this monitor apart from the internal speakers are quite poor. You would need to buy seperate speakers if you want to listen to quality sound from music or movies.

5 stars to acer.

Its the small things that count

after researching for hours, trawling the internet for reviews of monitors i decided on this. despite the good reviews, i found three main reasons why this monitor is not all its cracked up to be

Colour: the monitor comes with pre-configured options for use with games, photos etc... but all options make their target look either way too contrasted or way to dull. although there is a manual config it still does not display the colours to the best they could be.

Screen: although i knew what i was buying when i bought a glossy monitor, this screen goes way past anything ive seen before and almost blinds you.

& finally...and most annoyingly of all

Ghosting: when plugged into my laptop, there was a constant ghosting on everything, that would not go away no matter what i updated be it the cable, the monitors setting or my graphics card.


i would not recommend this monitor, as my mother still tells me"you only get what you pay for" save up and buy something better

STUNNING

I just got mine yesterday, 12th Nov, and set it up right away.
I find this monitor absoutely mind boggling....the best buy I have ever made, relating to computers.
You will have no regrets if you buy this.

Mains lead only continental

This monitor although it looks good and could have a good performance, comes with a continental mains lead only. My specimen had several pixels always on, one was very bright and distracting. Returned as not suitable!

My Yuraku 17" is better

After reading all the reviews, I thought 'why not?'. I was looking to upgrade my 16 month old 17" Yuraku TFT monitor. I received the Hannspree monitor on Tuesday (£95 super saver delivery). I set it all up and had high expectations.

I was sorely disappointed. A previous reviewer said that the picture quality is grainy, with pixelation. They are right (even more so on mine). Even when I play a dvd, the picture quality is grainy, there is uneven picture colour and contrast (some areas are too bright whilst others are too dark). I went on the net and the background is a shade of pale pink!.

I tried to alter settings, but nothing improved. Also, if you have vista, the installation cd will not install the program, since it is presented via adobe V7.0 and there are major compatibility issues with this version and vista. So I was unable to install software even after downloading adobe V9.0.

I also ordered a DVI-D male to male lead. The picture quality did improve somewhat but not enough to rival my previous Yuraku monitor.

It just goes to show - 'If it aint broke dont get rid of it'. I deeply regret selling off my 17" Yuraku monitor to some miserly ebayer who refused to pay the £60 'buy it now' price and managed to pay only £50 for it!. He was an gujarati account, so he was very manipulative and even more so kanjoos.

Anyhoo, I returned the 19" widescreen Hannspree monitor and in its' place, I purchased a 19" Yuraku monitor (a worthy successor to my previous monitor).

If you want to buy a budget monitor, then I highly recommend Yuraku. It is affordable and has fantastic picture qualiy (very crisp, clear and colourful). When I purchased my first Yuraku, I was very hesitant because I had never heard of it. But I am glad I did buy it. It may be unknown in UK, but I eventually learned it is extremely popular in Asia (esp. India), Middle East and Europe.

As you can infer, I am not impressed with the Hannspree and it was a mistake I will never replicate. Also, I am no techno-phobe, since I built my high end quad core gaming pc myself.

Finally, I am not a Yuraku salesman!. I am actually a Pharmacologist.

At £190 - An incredible deal!

I bought this screen for use at university, as my room is small, and space is limited, and I have to say it's fantastic. It offers connections for just about anything you could want and allows you to combine all your gadgets through one output (I personally have my PS3 and computer hooked up at the moment.)

The picture quality is brilliant, and the resolution ideal for everyday PC and DVD viewing. One slight problem is the lack of HDMI port, which for the PS3 would be nice to have as I am currently using the RCA inputs, which look a bit dodgy on an LCD. On the other hand, there is a DVI connection, and with the purchase of a HDMI to DVI cable (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ps3-Hdmi-Dvi-Cable/dp/B000NWQULS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1221838706&sr=1-1), that problem should be sorted.

As mentioned before, and also about the 19" version, the sound quality of the speakers is not very high. However, I have it connected through a separate system (as I would frankly do with any monitor), and it sounds great.

In conlusion, I feel that despite the niggles with the sound and lack of HDMI port, this product still deserves five stars. Why? Because it cost me £190. This is extreme value for money when you compare it to its closest competitors, and I have yet to see a better deal out there. You wont get top quality home cinema experience, but you also won't pay £1500. If like me you are on a budget, then look no further, you won't be dissappointed.

like many others i was going to buy the Samsung SM226BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor untill i read the reviews on the screen issues and im so glad i made the decision to buy this LG. I upgraded from a samtron 19"crt 98pdf(samsung).

Seems OK so far - early days

I've put this review in quickly simply becuase there arne't any so far:
Got this as a low cost replacement to my 4 year old Dell 15" 4:3 monitor which keeps giving me a random white screen. Happy enough with this Hanns_G after about 3 hours use so far. Easy to physically assemble. Driver software took me a bit longer to sort - the disk didn't seem to install via the autorun. I ended up using windows XP control panel to update the driver (Win XP is normally 32bit as a clue). The buttons on the lower RH of the monitor aren't in the most user friendly spot as you push upwards to use them with nowhere to perch/rest your hand but these controls are not exactly used everyday. As far as I can see there are no missing pixels. Not rated 5 stars simply because it's early days. Bought Hanns-G as couldn't find any negative notes on web about them.

BRILLIANT

I have no idea why this TV is as cheap as it is...I've got it in my room and the Picture is perfect. The 1080 HD is stunning...My PS3 looks great on it as does all my DVDs...I haven't tried out the Freeview side of things but I'm sure that'll be top too...Buy it...

Cracking Monitor

Received this beauty yesterday. Set up simple, worked flawlessly straight away. Looks great with piano black surround and tasteful blue power light. My old monitor was a 17 inch 4 x3 so I am really appreciating the extra screen real estate. A great monitor at a great price (and cheaper than a new pair of glasses)!

Style over substance

Had the T220 as a second monitor for a few weeks now. Worked well out of the box. Included software was appallingly bad but fortunately not needed. First impressions are it looks great, even turned off. Touch sensitive power switch is very nice, and having all the buttons round the side makes for very clean lines. Downside are display clarity isn't quite as good as my laptop and films are still letterboxed (but I knew that before I bought it). Generally a pretty good ownership experience but don't buy if you expect ultimate sharpness (and would you get it for this price?). Still a 4 star product though.

Great monitor - poor stand

Got this 20inch wide screen as an upgrade from my 4 year old Sharp LL-172A 17inch standard flat lcd monitor.

Pros: Driver cd updated winXP in a flash, nice clear 1680 x 1050 resolution, easy set up brightness / digital vibrance / contract / image sharpening / gamma using existing nVidia control panel, no need to install the bundled Samsung software, comes with dvi cable and vga cable for older pc.

Cons: Vista drivers were not included on driver cd you'll need an internet connection to use the download link instead. This nice monitor is very badly let down buy the flimsy plastic stand, with poor adjustment, when you gently touch the power switch the whole thing 'wobbles' creating an air of cheapness to the finished article.

Pretty good for price and quality

I bought this for £135 from amazon (now -as of 16 oct - i see the price has gone up) - the unit is pretty neat - clear pic. I've used laptop all along and watching movies etc., on a 22" screen is pretty good. Games are neat - and it has both digital and VGA support
However, the"magic" tune option provided with samsung software never worked. said it is not compatible with this monitor - so that's quite dissapointing. Monitor bordres are gloss black finish - so keep the cleaning cloth handy if you have a dusty room - otherwise for the price - the monitor and size rocks. I was initially looking for T220 rose-black monitor from Samsung, but comparing the features and quality, i think this is good value for money

The buttons are slightly odd - they are old fashion click-type. For the technology, i would have liked it to be soft-touch -but a neat transparent glass panel hides the buttons so they are all neatly tucked-away rather than showing up on the front. the swirl and tilt are ok - slightly tight, but will do.

over-all, quite happy with the monitor - lives up to the reputation. I cant complain unless I see another monitor for cheaper price and better features.
