GREAT PRODUCT!!! NO HASSLES!!!

Great transmitter, works brilliant at home and in the car. No wires and really easy to set up and use, practically idiot proof. All that is required is a clear fm frequency, and to tune the transmitter, couldnt be any easier. Even comes with a spacer to allow a protective cover to be fitted over my ipod and can still be connected.

Cheap, neat and simple

Cheap, neat and simple, I find my iTrip pretty convenient.

The sound quality is decent enough for me. Audiophiles may be disappointed but if you just want background music for driving then it's as good as tuning to any FM station. The important thing is to find a genuinely empty frequency to use- it doesn't work well on frequencies with any kind of existing signal on. The hardest place to do this, I've found, is around Birmingham.

It's even useful for having a bath, because I can put my iPod in the room next door with the iTrip in, then take a little radio into the bath and not worry about getting my iPod wet.

The Weakest Link: TomTom could easily do better

The windscreen sucker works up to now for me, but I keep the inside of the windscreen scrupulously clean (a fag, since black dust collects on it all the time), store the sucker in a polythene bag to keep dust off, and breathe on the sucker to moisten it with condensation. But it's ridiculous to expect it to work forever even so. What it needs is cheap spare suction cups and one spare included with each new windscreen mount. Who wants to wait for a replacement when the first one stops working? Having to buy a whole new mount and a charger each time is ridiculous and environmentally unfriendly. Moreover TomTom don't let on that meticulous cleanliness is vital.

I wish that satnav manufacturers would devise a mounting system that does not show thieves by a ring on the windscreen or some other clue that they should smash a window to see if the satnav is in the glove compartment.

It's hard to imagine car manufacturers installing a standard socket for loose satnavs, since they probably want to end up installing their own OEM versions and make money on those. But I find portable TomTom satnavs better on the whole than the satnav fitted in a recent Honda Civic. Separate satnavs can have a much shorter product cycle, and a map update on the Honda satnav cost more than my TomTom including its maps. What's more, the map update for the Honda did not stop it giving daft directions at times. The TomTom lives by my PC when not in use and is updated all the time for free, but updating the Honda satnav is much harder and ridiculously expensive.

TomTom provide great value for money, but the windscreen mount lets down an otherwise great product.

The tip that plugs into the cig lighter can unscrew and out spills fuse, clasp, spring and tip - make sure to keep it tight

Beware, does not fit the new XL v2

I bought this case together with the tomtom one xl v2; the one with the new easy port mounting on the back. I think that the quality of the Hama case is great and well worth the money. However it does not fit the new xl as it has no allowance for the easy port mount clipped on the back.
Hope this helps you choose the right case for the 'new' tomtom one xl.

Good product let down by poor internal areial

I bought the Pure Highway having had a DAB radio in my previous car (a first generation Blaupunkt unit with external aerial). There were almost no places in the South East where I lost the DAB signal.

It was quick and easy to set up although I did not use the FM transmission option as my radio has an aux input.

The Pure unit, with internal aerial, constantly dropped out - sometimes only for a second or two. Very frustrating! You could see the signal strength meter jumping up and down all the time. I had expected better.

Apart from that, the unit was fine - although more pre-sets would have been nice.

5 STARS NO DOUBT ABOUT IT

I had my head unit fitted at a Halfords a while back and I was lured into spending £7 on an aux in cable for my ipod classic while I was there. I thought what's the harm it's a simple cable and I don't have to wait for a slightly cheaper one to get delivered from online... However.. that cable was a total let down. After just one day if you bent it in any position, the sound would cut out of one channel. This definitely wasn't my ipod playing up..
So I took it back and they tried replacing it. I wasn't interested.. Checked Amazon and liked the look of this one seeing how it was durable and had a few decent reviews. It turned up today and it's top draw, especially at this price. I can move it into any shape to tuck away the cables and the sound isn't effected. That's all I wanted in the 1st place. 5 stars from me, great cable.

Case Logic PDVK3

Nice case. Although the padding is not really thick will still protect from general bumps and knocks. Has enough space to hold player, 5 DVDs and the straps.

PIGGING USELESS

I don't understand how other people have got DIVX to play on this thing, I certainly haven't managed it, it couldn't even play the DIVX activation disc that I burned.

And I found out afterwards that you can't mod Sony players to be region free, another reason to stay clear of them.

I wouldn't wipe my bum on this thing.

Bought a car cigarette lighter socket from Cheetah not the one in the pic, email kms direct and they sent one out for free, saying i should have bought from them. It works great i have my ipod and phone on charge at the same time. what great sellers they are. I have now bought more products from kms. Big thank you...

I'm Impressed - Top Buy!

I've just read some of these reviews and am surprised at some of the views and problems - I love mine!

Not had it long and decided to treat myself as my old satnav was well past it's sell by date.

I spent a lot of time prior to my purchase researching the various brands and models, I wanted one that would allow me to use my phone handsfree and play mp3s/audiobooks and decided to go for this one.

My mobile phone was easy to set up and works well via bluetooth (Model: Samsung) but I'd suggest anyone thinking of buying this, check on the TomTom website for compatibility as others seem to have problems.

FM receiver - set up was a doddle (once I'd worked out how to get my standard Renault cd/radio to manually search step by step rather than automatically find the next FM station - and believe me that took some doing!) The sound is clear as a bell with no interference which is great as I love playing mp3 audiobooks on long journeys.

Using additional SD card for mp3's did have me foxed for a while - but soon found the answer on google and created a folder called 'mp3' on my SD card and dragged them into there. Individual Albums/Audiobooks are placed in their own folder within this folder.

Voice recognition - works instantly for me every time and must admit I use it all the time.

Satnav itself hasn't taken me wrong yet - map correction worked for the closed off road just round the corner from my house and no longer routes me that way. The 4.3" screen gives a clear view of the road ahead and the lane guidance at motorway merges is really good.

Plenty of warning is given for speedcameras and usefully also indicates the speed limit.

It's not fallen off the windscreen yet - though looking at the other posts, I'll expect that to happen in the future. (Thinking about buying the airvent holder - any views anyone???)

No problems with the TomTom home software - just connected it up to my PC and automatically installed the latest software and updated my maps and speedcameras. Another great feature is the backup facility and that was one of the first things I did - very handy should I mess up.

In summary, I'm absolutely delighted!

Alright if I were French

I just got my dvd player today and it's spot on. took me no more than a minute from taking out the box to having it set up on my TV (including switching it to multi-region). it was easy to set up which is a good thing considering all the instructions i got with it were in French and even the dvd player itself is set in French.

This is where i'm hoping somebody might be able to help me, am I able to switch the dvd play to english so i can understand the menus?

plus on a side note and this isn't really anything against the dvd player. when it was delivered today the packaging was shocking. it was all ripped to bits. If it wasn't for the fact that none of the holes in the bag were big enough to fit the dvd player though i would of said it looked like somebody had switched them.

Very good indeed

Trawled through loads of reviews before settling on this one, I was thinking more expensive would be best but the over £200 navs all have such mixed reviews I decided to try my luck with one that didn't have any. I'd borrowed a Garmin previously so when I got my tom tom out of the box and saw the screen size is smaller I was a bit worried but I've used it loads and it hasn't been a problem at all. Also the Garmin I'd borrowed took ages to lock onto the satellites but my TT has always locked on immediately so really pleased. I havn't tried out the places of interest options but I did have fun testing all the different accents you can choose! I have to say over all I'm really pleased, I think I made the right choice and the price isn't bad either. It comes with a little box for the screen but it's not big enough for the wire, and sucker wotsit so i've marked it down for that.

the wrong product

i bought this item as well, but forgot that there is a much better product that allows you to charge and play your iTunes over your car stereo. why bother charging the iPod in your car when you can't listen? belkin should be more fair and include the cassette mounted output to your car stereo and not exclude it from this product.

real value for money

I bought this to use in the car with my iPhone 3G. I wanted to try playing my music over the car radio (no aux input available). I've read loads of reviews about FM transmitters for iPods etc and expected very little from this product as a result. But I thought that, for around £15, a cradle that is supposed to charge my iPhone and also allow me to listen to music over the car stereo at the same time would be worth a try.
I have had it for a couple of weeks, now, and I'm glad I bought it. It has a good transmitter and while my music collection doesn't come through the car speakers in CD quality, it's not very far off!
A very good buy at this price. Recommended.

Very convenient

This is a very easy to use product complete with a built in light. You simply set the required pressure and it whirrs away and cuts off automatically when the right pressure is reached. The only downside is all these types of products are quite noisy and aren't exactly pocket sized - but I think this is a best of breed.

Does the job.

I have had this item in my car for over a year now and I have had no problems with it at all.
I would honestly recommend it as it certainly does the job that it is designed to do.

Absolute rubbish!

I purchased 2 FreeLogix adaptors: both my wife's and mine needed replacing at the same time.
Neither FreeLogix adaptor worked - I tried them both on 5 cars at the office.
The mechanism just jammed (even when winding with a finger or pencil), so the cassette player just kept turning over and over.
I unscrewed the cassettes and removed the turning mechanism, so they then worked. BUT the sound quality is very poor - booming and full of bass with no treble. It's like listening with your ears full of water.
The previous adaptors that we used sounded much better (both different makes), but the sound kept cutting out due to wear and tear on the cable.

fine for in the background.....

I got this to use in the car along with my Zen Stone.
I found it particularly poor when using with the Stone, which has excellent sound quality when listening via earphones. However, once connected to the Transmittor, sound quality was poor at best. A lot of static and very muffled. Also, if you want to have the volume higher it was a total no go!!
i've recently upgraded my Stone to a Zen Mosiac, and tried again with the transmittor. The result was much better this time round. However, as with the stone, the upper volume limit is pretty poor. Sound quality is grand whilst the volume is low (ish) but any higher and there is a 'muffling' to the songs which is pretty intolerable.
All in all, fine for the price, quality is probably affected by the quality of MP3 you use with it.

Definately worth the money...

Firstly, let me say that the instructions are rubbish! However, once you've pulled out your stereo unit it is very obvious how to connect the unit and anyone with half a brain can work out how to fit it. It takes about 10 mins for basic installation. If you want a tidy installation it took me about half an hour to wire it in neatly.
I got this option because I thought that the colour screen version was gimmicky but I still wanted to be able to se who was calling.
The sound quality is excellent and the microphone is very good (you dont find yourself shouting ever). The volume on my unit does seem to be very high but I think thats the stereos fault... The stereo mute function is brilliant.
Overall the unit is great. The Bluetooth connection is flawless; it is so much easier and safer than trying to stand up in the car to pull the phone from your pocket like before. Would definately recommend this unit.
